About Tomsk Observatory

The Schumann Resonance monitoring station at Tomsk State University is one of the longest-running continuous observation points for Earth's electromagnetic pulse. Operated by the Siberian Physical-Technical Institute (SPTI), it has been recording spectrogram data since the Soviet era, making it one of the most historically rich datasets for studying the 7.83 Hz fundamental and its harmonics.

Tomsk captures a broad frequency range, typically 0 to around 40 Hz, covering all five Schumann bands. The spectrograms occasionally show interference from the 50 Hz power mains — common for ground-based ELF receivers in populated areas. Our AI pipeline is trained to recognize and discount this artifact when scoring.

At 56.5 degrees north in central Siberia, Tomsk picks up resonance patterns distinct from Mediterranean stations. Comparing Tomsk with Cumiana and ETNA gives a more complete picture of global electromagnetic activity — which is why SunGeo cross-validates across all three. Visit sosrff.tsu.ru
